Jelena Cobanovic

13-1 head coach

Jelena was born and raised in Serbia (home of the women’s volleyball world champions) where she played competitively since she was ten years old. She came to the United States six years ago to pursue higher education and the sport of volleyball. She first attended and earned an AA degree from Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colorado, before transferring to Division I George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. At GMU, she received her BA in Psychology. Jelena has played competitively in each of the past four years as a libero for both Northeastern and Mason on a full athletic scholarship. At Northeastern she received All-Tournament and All-Region volleyball awards, as well as the All-American Exemplary Academic Award.

After graduating from Mason, Jelena was offered a Graduate Assistant coaching position at Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. She coached the women’s volleyball program for two years and received her Master’s Degree in Business Management in May of 2018. She is looking forward for the volleyball club season to start and is looking forward to another season with Turlock Crush as the 13-1 head coach.
