Amber lugo

18 -1 Head Coach

Amber Lugo graduated from high school in Pflugerville, Texas. She was a decorated three sport athlete in volleyball, basketball, and track. Amber was the first student at PHS to receive a full athletic scholarship in the sport of volleyball. She played at Texas A&M Kingsville setting many records as a middle blocker. 


Amber has been teaching and coaching in the area since 1996. She has a BA in Physical Education, a minor in Biology, and a MA in Education Administration. She taught and coached at Somerset Middle School as head volleyball, basketball and track and field coach for 7 years. During that time she was also assistant varsity volleyball coach at Beyer and Downey High School. Amber has been a teacher and the head volleyball coach at Turlock High for the past 13 years. In her tenure she has won a couple of league championships, a section championship, and made it to the NorCal State Chapionship’s semi-final in the prestigious open division. Additionally, Amber coached for Rage Volleyball Club for 9 years. Notably, she qualified her 16’s team for USA Volleyball National Championships in 2022. Amber is successful due to great mentors, excellent training, and a constant desire to improve. 


Amber has three amazing daughters that have grown up on the volleyball court. All three have had amazing high school and club careers full of awards and National Championship appearances. Hannah is her oldest that is playing at CSU Monterey (setter), Abby plays at St. Mary’s College (outside hitter), and Sophia is a senior at Central Catholic High School. A great deal of time is spent cheering them on at their respective schools. 


Amber is married to Bob Lugo who is very supportive of all the volleyball crazy. He will be seen courtside at all matches
